Nice! There are some ‘spike free’ squash varieties, but I’ve never tried any. Might be worth it for next year. I’m totally allergic to the plants, too. (Roses will do it, too if I’m not careful when I’m pruning.)

Mark – You can do it Mark! It’s all about getting out there and getting your hands dirty. Sometimes the weather works for you, sometimes… 🙂

Olga – Thank you, I’m glad I inspired you. You can do it too! It’s not as much work as I thought actually.

Jean – Spaghetti squash should be picked when yellow. Mine were pretty white, I had very wet and humid weather that caused a very heavy white mildew on the leaves of my plants. So I did harvest them early. Type ‘spaghetti squash ripe’ into google and you’ll get lots of results.

Paul, how do you know when your speg. squash is ripe-I have some but don’t know how to tell if it’s ready for picking. Jean
