Heather, you mentioned using a vc mix to start seeds-do you mix the vc with potting soil and in what proportions. I use vc when doing transplants but have been hesitant to try it with seeds. I remember back in the day how busy I was with 5 kids and a small business so more power to you for all you accomplish.
Thanks for sharing, Heather. Although there is certainly a role for online vermi-businesses, I think it's hard to beat the personal touch of a local worm wrangler. Keep up the great work!

What a great interview, Heather and Bentley! Very informative and helpful. I especially like your method of harvesting the vermicompost and the additional step you take to allow any eggs to hatch out, I'm sure Bentley has covered that, but I missed it somehow, and didn't realize there was a way to 'finish' the process. I have to second the request for pictures, Heather. I'd love to see your 'wall o worms' setup, as I had my wormies in my basement as well.

Great job Bentley !!
Heather: I'm a newbie and have been tempted to introduce coffee grounds as part of my feed mix as I have a great source. The pH factor was of concern, but seeing that you use a lot in your successful program, it must be good. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the support, everybody! I will try to get some updated pics in the next week or two...gardening, some new business and "soccer Momming" (just wait until you have 2 elementary kids in activities, Bentley!) has me a little stretched this week, but will try to fit some in.

Thanks Bentley & Heather for the great interview. It's always nice to get information from many sources. I would like to see some pics of Heather's operation. I bet the Texas heat can be a real challenge for a vermicomposter. We had a lot of 90+ degree weather here in south eastern Indiana this year & keeping my worm bin under 85 degrees was a bit of a challenge.
Happy worming to all of you!

I can personally attest to Heather's honesty and great customer service as a worm rancher. She was more than happy to show me some do's and don'ts that I was about to stumble into with my first batch of worms. She was very helpful and I would recommend her to anyone looking to get a better looking garden.

Thanks Bentley for this interview, it gives more of an insight to the poster I have read over at vermicomposters.com

I have been to her website, if I recall correctly because of an article she wrote (on the community garden website) and was linked from a posting on vermicomposters... It is always great to get more insight into the person behind the posts, articles. Would have loved to see some photo's of her operation.

Thanks Heather for opening up a bit here,
Matt
