Hi Bentley – another big fan of yours here! I loved this and I am going to read the pdf at leisure.
Vermiculture is certainly something people seem to get obsessed with (I also have several worm systems on the go!)

Now that I have picked myself up off the floor from laughing so hard, I would like to tell you how much I enjoy your website. All of the information you provide is so helpful and very entertaining. Fantastic resource! I am pleased to know that there are others who are as obsessed about composting with worms as I am. I love the Euro’s I ordered from you this summer for my preschool camp. The Euro’s multiple like crazy! You don’t have to go looking for cocoons – there are several cocoons within every square inch of the worm bin. I have been making our bins similar to your 6000, I use window screen, that have tiny holes, instead of vents. Our Euro’s love their home; they are happy, healthy and seen mating all the time. My garden children and I will try to make your invention this week – it looks great!

I suspect that this sort of a bin would actually work quite well for Euros – but I’ll have to test that out to see for sure.

Thanks Bentley, I was thinking water might come out of the vents. I went back and looked very carefully at the video, and you are right. If leakage was coming out the vents there defiantly would be too much water. I do have one more question. Would conditions in this bin be too dry for European nightcrawlers?

Hi Nathan,
I never have drainage in my indoor bins (other than the “deluxe” bin I made for the YouTube video, which I no longer use). Ok – talking here about tub systems – obviously my flow-through “Worm Inn” has drainage as does my stacking flow through system.
Not sure where the constant “leakage of water” would be coming from – if it was coming out of the vents that you mean you’d let things get WAY too wet down below.
Speaking of the vents, every so often you could take the bin and pour off any excess liquid out through one of the bottom vents if you wanted to make sure there was never too much pooling.

Cool idea, but where is the drainage? I don’t think it would work very well in a living room if it is constantly leaking water.
