I've had my two worm inns going for a year now, and hardly notice them - I put food wastes in the top, alternating bins. Nothing smells. I harvest every three months and get pure vc. When the worms start falling through I realize I've hit the food zone and stop harvesting. I like them better than anything else I've tried including the big flow through.

Hi Bentley,
I'm waiting patiently for your worm brief on "worm handling in hot weather". Temperature in Southern California spiked to 95 F the last couple of days. Worms doing OK. I'm keeping the bedding as moist as possible and not adding food in. It feels hot when I stick my hand into the middle of the worm inn. In one worm inn, most worms probably got away from the surface but in the other worm inn, I find a bunch of them gathering at the top layer of bedding. Maybe I should switch to African Nightcrawlers for the heat!
Thanks

Whoops - missed your questions! lol
Smaller quantities more often is great, but I've found that LOTS periodically works with this system as well (not so hot a strategy with enclosed plastic bins) - especially with the living material. Food added daily should work, but you may need to leave it be from time to time if you end up filling the system (greater likelihood with the living stuff as well).

I really can't figure why The Worm Inn hasn't made it here - every other type of worm bin is available?? Sigh .... it remains at the very top of my wish list. Bentley are you recommending that one should feed less food more often for optimum operation both for worm reproduction and harvesting of vc. Do you think a little food could be added on daily basis with living materials and not risk sour bin and protein poisoning etc?
