Ok, I’ll admit it – I’ve been going a little bit Facebook-group-crazy as of late. It all started when I decided to test out a private FB group for the Worm Farming Alliance, after being impressed with some othe FB groups I belonged to.
I really liked the level of interactivity, and the ease of sharing things like photos, videos etc. I also REALLY liked the fact that Facebook takes care of all the technical heavy-lifting. No need to worry about updating software etc etc.
PLUS – Facebook just generally tends to be something a lot of people are already connected to, so actually reaching members and getting them involved can be a lot easier.
The WFA group ended up being well-received, with quite a few members getting involved, and has become a really important communication channel for the membership as a whole! This led me to the conclusion that I should really have FB Groups for the VermBin Series and Easy Vermicomposting Groups, and…what the heck – why not just create one for RWC Worm Inn owners as well?
😆
And then it dawned on me…
By setting up private groups for various product-customer communities, not only was I forgetting about my PRIMARY website (and overall mission) – but even more importantly, I was forgetting about the largest segment of my audience! DOH!
It only makes sense to have a main RWC public Facebook Group as well. I have never had an RWC forum before and the RWC Fanpage – while “cool” in its own way is not really the same thing (tends to be more focused on the site itself – and just generally, one-sided since I am the only one who can add new posts). Now the only question left to be asked is – why on earth didn’t I think of this sooner?!?!?
I am definitely excited about the possibilities and – just for fun – I would love to see how quickly we can grow! Do you think we can end up with the same number of members as “fans” (we’re up past 8700 as I type this)?? We shall see!
Get involved today – go >>HERE<< to become a member!
**For Even More Worm Fun, Sign Up for the RWC E-mail List!**
I will only join if I can be an admin !!!
Just kidding; I’ve already sent my request to join.
I just hope I get picked to join !!!!
You gotta EARN admin, soldier!!
Now drop and give me twenty!!
😆
Joking aside – I definitely will need some other admins as the number of members grows. Anyone that seems to be involved a lot (helping others etc) will likely be a candidate.
Not quite sure how to join. Do I press the + Create Group Button?
Hi Janice – to the left of “Create Group” there should be a button that says “Join Group”. I will also send you an email invite just in case.
Thanks for your interest!
Thank you, Bentley. I m now joined up. Lots to catch up on FB.
